NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

This course introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, the students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Pistol Course will also help prepare the student for participation in other NRA courses.

Gun Cleaning Class

This course offers the essentials, that will focus on breaking down individual firearms and learning how to select/use the correct tools that are needed. In this course, you will learn some of the most straightforward techniques for maintaining your firearm

Back to Basics Pistol

This course enforces and stresses the responsibility of gun handling and reviews all of the basic fundamentals of shooting. A full day of range time, will help improve accuracy and technique, providing confidence with ones own firearm

Course Outline:

    Review of Range Emergency Response Preparedness (Distribution of Emergency Responsibility Cards)
    Basic firearms and Range Safety and Range Safety Commands
    Fundamentals of Marksmanship (Stance, Grip, Sight Picture, Breathing, Trigger Press) (Dry & Live Fire)
    Trigger isolation
    Strong and weak hand shooting
    Shooting on the move (Forward/Backward; Side to Side Movement; Dry & Live Fire; Understanding Target acquisition with movement)
    Skill and team drills (Dry & Live Fire)
    Competitive mind set and match prep (Conversation)
    Firearms maintenance and equipment selection (Conversation)
Maximum Number Class Participants: 12

Equipment Needed:
    Eye & Ear Protection
    Sturdy Belt
    OWB Holster (Outside the Waistband Holster)
    Mag Carriers/Pouch (Should hold at least 2 Magazines)
    Semi-Automatic Pistol (9mm preferably, can use .380 w/ holster and mag. carriers)
      (If you are not sure what you have will work please reach out to Sandra at 484-357-5906)
      2-3 mags for your firearm (3 preferably)
      300 Rounds of ammo
What else to Bring:
    Water (I will bring a cooler with water; however, I always suggest bringing some along with you)
    Rain Gear (Just in case)
    Lunch
    Chair (in case you want to sit during breaks)

This course will focus on a safe and efficient draw from the holster, presentation to target and re-holstering procedures. A review of needed equipment will be provided along with preparing students with basic knowledge of the holster draw process. (Dry Fire & Live Fire included)

    Presentation of Proper Draw and return to holster technique (Both Dry Fire & Live Fire drills)

NRA Home Firearm Safety

NRA Home Firearm Safety

This is a four-hour non-shooting course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRAs three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.

Dry Fire Clinic

Dry Fire Clinic

This Clinic will provide students with the benefits of dry-fire and a review of the training gear needed. Students will practice the manipulation of a firearm and drills to practice in areas without live ammunition.
